"I really like CodeIgniter, it is PHP4 compatible, which makes me sad"

Same here. I asked them a few times, in the forum, when they switch to PHP5 only .. they coulnd't tell. Backwards compatibility is very important to them... I did fall in love with CI though at the very beginning..before I knew they were PHP4 compatible.

@Dynom: I have not tried Kohana, is it really like CI? I am thinking about learning ZF and learn Kohana as well (instead of CI)

Try Kohana ( http://www.kohanaphp.com). If you like CI, you will love Kohana.

@Halfer: Yea you're probably right. It's always nice to have input on it though. Makes testing a lot faster.

@johanna: I've not tried it, but I think Cake belongs in your list of 'PHP frameworks to try'. That said, I am a committed symfony user, and am very happy with it.

@joshdavey: I'd not heard of Madeam, but it does appear to be very alpha at this stage, so perhaps has some way to go. I think this was the case with Solar when I looked at the website some time ago, too. Probably best not to push it too hard at an early stage, else you'll have a lot of people remembering that it's not ready, even though it may well be very ready at some point in the future!
